The district of České Budějovice is the most densely populated in the South Bohemia region. Just outside South Bohemia’s major city you can find the striking town of Hluboká nad Vltavou, to the north lies Týn nad Vltavou and to the east the Lišov area. To the south, there is the beautiful area of Doudleby with its mythological past and the hills around Nové Hrady extending up to the Austrian border.

The district attracts its visitors with a number of nature reserves and zones where historical buildings are preserved, beautiful forests, enclosures, ponds and rivers, with a rich heritage of traditional architecture and sightseeing of all kinds, and last but not least friendly and hospitable people. You have no doubt heard about Budweiser beer (the original one, made in České Budějovice) and the first continental railway to reach the Danube, which ran between České Budějovice and Linz and was originally horse drawn.
